Ophelia (after John Everett Millais)

A mini oil painting made in response to John Everett Millais's Ophelia.

While in London, England for my painting's exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, I spent time sitting in front of Millais's iconic Ophelia at Tate Britain, trying to absorb as much as possible and create this little 4x4" study of the much larger iconic work. This small painting began there, in direct conversation with the original, and was finished later in the studio on 17 July 2026.

Ophelia is painted in oil on linen mounted on an aluminum panel. The back of the panel is etched with my logo and signed using archival paint marker.

Varnishing options

Oil paintings need time to cure before a final protective varnish can be applied. 

Choose what works best for you:

• Ship or deliver now: The painting will arrive with retouch varnish, which doesn't give the same degree of long-term protection as regular varnish.
• Varnish later: Receive it now and return it to the studio in approximately 3–6 months for final varnishing. 
• Wait for final varnish: Keep the painting in the studio until it is ready to be fully varnished. The earliest shipping or delivery date for that option is October 17, 2026.

Shipping timeline

Original paintings are carefully packaged by hand. Please allow 5–10 business days for packaging and dispatch. International orders may be subject to customs duties and import taxes.

Shipping costs are additional and quoted separately. I'll invoice you after dispatch. Shipping costs for fine art can vary substantially depending on destination, timeline, and custom handling needs. Many collectors have their own preferences, such as adding insurance or using specialist art couriers for high-value, one-of-a-kind pieces. I invoice separately so that you only pay for what you need.
